Helen, this is why I love you! Fashion doesn’t suit many people yet anyone can be stylish (with the right advice). Being a follower of fashion is not only expensive, it can very easily go wrong and be depressing when it doesn’t suit you…!
Aw thanks Lara. Glad you get it! x
I agree wholeheartedly Helen, Style is enduring, fashion never is, but keeping an eye on fashion gives us opportunity to update our style. I still never buy anything without first remembering your advice and it works, saves me time, money and mistakes. Have your heard of Peruvian Connection? I have been so impressed with this range for over 20 years, can rarely afford it but when I do manage to buy a much coveted item in one of their sales it is such a buzz. So good to hear from you and I hope your business continues to be successful.
Thanks Jenny. Peruvian Collection is great and perfect for your colouring. I’ve had a “fellow Autumn” client complain that they never have what she wants in stock. Have you ever found this?
I agree Helen. Stylish feels much better than fashion for me too.
Even though I am a designer, I shudder at the thought of the limitations of dressing in top-to-toe on-trend fashion! I recognise I am a natural creative so the word ‘style’ fits me far better… I do love the flexibility style brings, like being able to add to my wardrobe because I love an item, rather than have to have it because its in fashion
Thanks for provoking thess thoughts with your blog, Clover
This is great and I agree – I am definately not fashionable. I prefer to stick with my own personal style and maybe add a little fashionable item.
Style is for me. I prefer to be stylish, even creating my own style, with a touch of fashion splashed on by way of accessories.
That said, I would hate to be so caught up in my own style that I don’t adapt and become dated like you see some people do.
Style over fashion wins (for me) Helen!
Really loved reading this, I definitely fit in to the stylish camp. I still have clothes in my wardrobe from 20 years ago that I can still comfortably wear without feeling they’re outdated! Very interesting write up, keep them coming Helen!
