One of my most favourite things about this time of year is the footwear. In particular, I love a pair of boots!
Boots are so versatile. Whether heeled, flat, pointy, round toed, long, short, suede or leather, there is something for everyone and they are a great outfit finisher.
Here are my top boots pick for the season. Do let me know what you think by leaving me a comment.
Red boots
A big fashion statement this season is red footwear. Marks & Spencer has a great collection of red boots but these are the most practical, being leather and having a more sturdy heel.
Suede
It might not be the most practical fabric for footwear, but as long as you look after it (spray it like crazy, often), suede is a wonderfully stylish option, especially if you suit a more natural/casual style. There is a LOT of teal in the shops right now – perfect if you have autumn or summer colouring.
Kitten Heels
The heel of the season is a kitten heel. This won’t be right for everyone but if you suit dainty accessories and have a small to medium bone structure, they could work a treat. I love the gold hardware on these, it gives them look an expensive and luxurious feel.
Brocade
I’ve seen this M&S pair in almost every magazine and online article I’ve looked at in the last few weeks. Great if you like something a bit quirky. Also check out Dune.
Block heels
If kitten heels aren’t your bag, try some block heels which are more stable and will suit you better if you aren’t the dainty type.
Over-the-knee Boots
The over-the-knee boot is becoming more and more popular. Worn with a mini skirt you may feel a bit Julia Roberts in Pretty Woman. However, try a pair under a midi length dress or skirt with a side split for a slightly more demure look.
A flat pair or a small heel feels much more wearable.
Animal print
Spice up a neutral outfit with a pair of animal print ankle boots. These are high on my wish list.
Chelsea Boots
I live in my Chelsea boots and have them in black and brown. They are classic/natural in style and great for everyday comfort.
If you like the idea of a knee or calf length boot but struggle to find the right fit, due to narrow or wide calves, Duo Boots: Ted and Muffy should be your next stop. You can basically tailor make your boots according to your leg and ankle shape. Genius!
Leave me a comment and let me know your favourite boot style.
I invested in some Duo boots that are custom made for my (functional!) legs after Helen recommending them to me. I have already worn them once this year. The only thing i don’t like about then is that I find the top a bit wide/baggy, but to actually get boots that fit is a marvel. They are very good quality.
I second the Duo Boots recommendation – I have a knee length pair and just ordered an ankle boots. Fab little shop in Bath too.
I think good to know about the length of trousers to wear with boots?
I will cover that in a Facebook Live or a future blog post Marion! Thanks for the inspiration x
Another Duo boot fan here! Being of above average height I found some knee length boots that were 2” longer so fit up to my knees, well worth the investment, I love them.
That’s great to hear Claire!
