I’ve recently returned from a blissful few days away in Mallorca. Stepping away from your every-day life and much-loved family for ‘5 minutes’ can have a transformational effect on your mind, I find. I try to do it at least once a year.
This year (as usual) my friend and I spent a lot of time people watching. It’s one of our most favourite things to do.
Our best spot for people watching and clothes analysing was the beach club. This is where a favourite theory of mine was proven once again.read more
Going away this summer? Dreading the thought of assimilating a holiday capsule wardrobe that will serve you well from breakfast ‘til cocktails? If you have the basics covered (swimwear, sandals, shorts, t-shirts, sundress and something wafty for evening)...read more
Many years ago, when I was quite new to my role as an image consultant, I was booked to do a wardrobe edit with a new client. I opened her wardrobe doors to be faced with an extraordinary number of trousers and skirts and an even larger number of tops and jackets.
This lovely lady (let’s call her Karen), had called me in because she was a prolific shopper, easily swayed by a bargain. She was totally overwhelmed by the amount of clothes she owned and professed that in-spite of the bulging rail, she had ‘nothing-to-wear.’read more
I spend a fair amount of my down time reading about or watching videos from the ‘influencers’ and ‘bloggers’ in the fashion industry, as they share the way they like to shop, organise and wear their clothes. They give insights into what’s new in store, what’s in...read more
Recently, I’ve been talking a lot about ‘shoulding’, that is wearing clothes that you think you ought to, regardless of how they make you feel.
The weather, the occasion, a life change, a change in your body and even reaching a certain age can all affect how you feel you ‘ought’ to dress.
The only thing I care about when it comes to helping a woman with her style is that they feel great in what they are wearing. There is absolutely no ‘shoulding’.read more
A couple of weeks ago I received this email from one of my Style Class attendees. “My biggest headache is choosing comfortable (yet smart) footwear for my commute. It's such a faff having to carry a pair of heels and switching around! I find I opt for trousers and...read more

The idea for this blog post came from my current trainee, Sarah-Jane. (She’s going to be an awesome image consultant, but that’s another story for another time!)
If you’ve ever put together a great outfit and then forgotten what it was, or, if you always wear the same tops with the same bottoms and feel it’s time to be more experimental, this is for you!read more
What state is your wardrobe in? Simplified, organised and minimal or, is it bursting at the seams with all manner of impulse purchases that rarely, (*never* – who are you kidding) get worn? Thankfully, we are coming to the tail end of winter (finally!) and spring is...read more
Are you into Valentine’s Day or is it commercialised nonsense to you? I have to say that despite being very happily married, (we’ve been together 24 years and married for 17!), my husband and I don’t get take much notice of 14th February. We prefer to wine and...read more
Recently, I read with interest an article in Harpers Bazaar magazine, featuring an art director (Matilda), who was tired of making ‘what-to-wear’ decisions on a daily basis. The worry of what to wear felt like a tremendous waste of time and too much stress. But is a strict uniform the answer?read more

Today I’m writing about a genius theory I discovered in a magazine last month. According to designer Michael Kors, we should all be following the 70/30 "meat and potatoes" rule. He is not referring to what’s on your plate, rather what’s in your wardrobe. Now, bear...read more
